It’s finally here! 16 months after making my biggest investment.. I get married this month!
It’s been one hell of a journey between then and now as we both scrambled to massively increase our incomes to be able to fully cover all the costs and have the wedding we both wanted without having to cut any corners. When we first got engaged, we made the decision to graciously decline the offers of financial help from our parents. It was important to both of us that we work and pay for our own wedding and after 16 months of late evenings & weekends working on the side hustles we have finally made it.
My beautiful finacee has, to be fair, done the huge majority of the planning. She’s worked miracles juggling all of the suppliers, venue staff and family demands whilst resolving every crisis as they came along. It’s allowed me the time to dedicate towards increasing the finances for which I am grateful.
The wedding takes place in 2 weeks. We’ve a beautiful barn type venue which will hold both the ceremony and reception afterwards. Then it’s back to work for a few days before flying out to Orlando for 3 weeks of reckless consumerism in the massive theme parks. Because of this I’ll be away at the end of April and so there won’t be an income/expenses report for that month.
From Matched Betting I made a personal record-breaking £4,612.57 in March! Last month was the Cheltenham festival which was always going to be a big pay day. I took the whole week off work and hammered the matched betting offers for a good 10 hours every day. The week was hectic but I made over £1,400 in the 4 days of the festival from sports bets alone. I’ve also started building up an affiliate income stream from the Matched Betting guide sites I recommend. I personally use a couple of guide sites and truly believe they are well worth the investment. Affiliate income paid at the end of March was £275.28.

Another expensive month as it was the stag do plus a load of last minute wedding expenditure on minor items like table decorations etc.
As I mentioned earlier; we are flying off on our honeymoon later this month so I won’t be posting again until May. Hope everyone has a great Easter break!

Hi Guy,
I think you and your other future wife should be really proud of your efforts. Firstly, for denying money from parents, which is an easy decision for most people to make. And then for working so tirelessly on funding the wedding that you and you future wife want (16 months of effort).
That is how you work towards a shared goal. Congratulations!

Congrats on getting married, I guess your honeymooning right now some might not see this post.
Stumbled across you blog as i’m interested in fire (fi principally) and the concept of supplementing my salary with other income streams. Its interesting to read about your results – particularly the income from affiliates/blogs. You are very honest about your approach and the results which is refreshing to read. Your profits in matched betting are interesting! Must declare an interest here, I was involved in that scene for 10 years but have virtually stopped now from a number of reasons and now looking for other opportunities.
One word of caution on betting side, I would keep balances low if multi accounting (be mindful of IP’s, iesnare etc too), although having multi accounts or running them for others is not breaking the law its against bookies T&C’s and they will happily confiscate the full balance of any accounts they suspect are being operated in this way. Basically bear in mind all bookies can act rogue (read their t&c’s which let them act with impunity), this includes betfair and the high street names licensed with the GC. Also IBAS are worse than useless when it comes to disputes. Apart from that have fun and good luck, I will keep reading your blog with interest.
