July 2016 Income/Expenses

July 2016 Income/Expenses

It was payday on Friday so time for the Income/Expenses!

July was my first full month working in the new role and it was without a doubt the correct move. I’m enjoying being back in an office with my own desk and knowing the colleagues around me. We’ve been busy but productive and it’s back to enjoying working again. Wedding preparations are continuing and we continue to get carried away with Honeymoon ideas, it’s currently looking like 6 weeks in North America but we shall see.

From Matched Betting I made £1445.33 in July. This was a particularly quiet month due to the football being off and bookies reducing their offers hopefully in prep for the start of the new season. I had a couple of decent casino wins but nothing massive.. demonstrating that it’s still possible to make a very decent profit just from doing all the small recurring offers as they pop up.  I highly recommend using one of the guide sites like Profit Accumulator. As always; if you have any questions I’m more than happy to help out, just drop me an email or leave a comment over at MatchedBettingGuy.com

RIP Kindle for me I think. Amazon have finally shifted the goalposts beyond the scoring line for my type of books and audience which means it is going to be impossible to make any decent income in the way I was before. I’m planning to change my strategy and attack it in the same way Huw does with his books however it’ll be quite different to what I was doing before and I’m not sure my interest is in that type of book. We shall see. Income from Kindle in July was £1,865.27.

I’ve also started building up an affiliate income stream from the Matched Betting guide sites I recommend. I personally use a couple of guide sites and truly believe they are well worth the investment. Affiliate income for the month of July was £270.90.

Another decent month for income. It’s a shame knowing that the Kindle publishing income is coming to and end but I’m hoping to increase the affiliate and matched betting incomes over the next couple of months to help compensate. HMRC continue to be useless and have over-taxed me again, apparently I’ll be getting a refund next month and salary paid should also increase as a result. We continue to save towards the wedding and are on-budget for that so there won’t be a massive expenditure on the final month.

  1. Hey Guy

Nice job on the income front again! Out of interest, what have Amazon changed in their policy regarding kindle? And how might you need to change your strategy?

    Cheers

    1. Thanks Craig.

Amazon have been changing their policy with regards to payments for pages read through Kindle Unlimited. Now it’s far harder to make much money from kindle unlimited and instead publishers are having to focus on just regular sales. My target market from my style of book was always kindle unlimited users and so Amazon’s changes will hit my books very hard. I’ll need to re-work all of my books so am weighing up whether its worth doing or not.

  2. I have to laugh (and applaud) your ‘quiet’ month in matched betting where you still made nearly £1.5k profit! :-)

Great work on the income streams and hope you manage to work round the Kindle change.
