April 2016 Income/Expenses
It was payday on Friday which means time for this month’s Income/Expenses!
I think it’s important to keep track of your income/expenses every month as it allows you to spot trends and areas for improvement. I find it really useful to track the spending changes each month, and really motivating to see the networth improvements. Sometimes it can seem like financial independence is so far away, but by watching your networth steadily increasing you’ll know you will reach that point eventually. I’ve created a new page to keep track of total networth, you can find it here.
April was another decent month for me. The 9-5 day job is ticking along nicely as I’ve been assigned to a long term project which will last for a few more months hopefully. Going into the same office and working with the same people for the past couple of months has made me realise how much I miss working in that kind of environment. Being a consultant usually involves alot of travel and darting between multiple projects. It’s made me reconsider whether I want to continue as a consultant and instead look to settle down a bit more back at a local company again.
My two main side incomes at the moment are Matched-Betting and Kindle Publishing (under the helpful guidance of Huw). So, how did they do in April?
I had another awesome month of matched betting. Total profit for the month was £1610.58 with a few offers still ongoing which I’ll carry over into May. I received alot of questions and comments on my Matched Betting so I’ve started a blog dedicated entirely to my Matched Betting with far more details about the specific types of bet I place and how to exploit the available offers. If you haven’t already, please take a look at www.MatchedBettingGuy.com
Kindle Publishing has been on hold for the past couple of months while I rode out Amazon’s upheaval and constantly changing terms & conditions. Still; the books I’d already published continued to tick along nicely and I’ll be hitting the Kindle business again hard next month. Income from Kindle was £1432.64.
Google Analytics tells me we’ve had 7,972 pageviews from 2,432 users. I’ve also joined the cool kids and started a Twitter account to post updates and a few random thoughts. Please feel free to ‘add me’ or whatever the Twitter equivalent is. I’m @EarlyRetireGuy

Another very decent increase in networth. One of my pension accounts took a bit of a hit and looks to have barely moved despite the extra £506 being added this past month so that’s eaten up a chunk of the savings difference. Still very pleased with the total amount saved and hopefully that will continue to grow as I expand the Kindle publishing.

Wow another incredible month for the side incomes Guy -very inspiring stuff.
Thanks for the tips on the Matched Betting, I’ve only been doing it for a few days but am already £160 in profit and aiming for about £500 by the end of May – cheers!
Thanks, I’m really glad to hear it! £500 in your first month should be easily achievable just doing the signup offers alone!
Fantastic efforts with the matched betting and the Kindle publishing, Guy – well done!
The good thing is that you will still have income rolling in while you consider whether to continue with the consultancy work, go back to a normal desk job or…stop working for someone else completely, a la Huw!
Very solid month! I just came across your blog and may have to check out matched betting. I’ve never heard of it before. Great job on the Kindle business. That is a great monthly cash flow coming in!
Hello, Welcome! Thanks, and definitely check it out.
